The Whidbey Community Foundation envisions a more vibrant, healthy, and unified Whidbey Island community for those who call it home–now and into the future.    

Whidbey Community Foundation (WCF) was founded in 2016 as the island’s partner, resource, and steward in philanthropy. As of November 2025, the Foundation manages over $5 million in charitable assets across over 35 funds – each of which supports the unique charitable intent of the donor who established the fund. WCF provides a structure that allows its donors to support their own unique charitable objectives in ways that are easy, flexible, and meaningful. Annually, the Foundation awards thousands in grants to support our community. Since 2016, over $5.3 million has been distributed to nonprofits from funds held at WCF. 

Whidbey Community Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life on Whidbey Island by providing support for the nonprofit sector, assisting donors to build and preserve enduring assets for charitable purposes, and meeting community needs through financial awards. As we keep our eye on our vision and strive to meet the emerging needs of our community, our work, and the services we offer fall into four general areas.

We provide essential philanthropic support, capacity-building, and training specifically designed for small- to mid-size rural nonprofits across Whidbey Island. Service as Community Convener and Advocate 

As an independent, publicly supported foundation, we act as a trusted convener, mediator, and technical advisor—connecting nonprofits, donors, and community partners to tackle local challenges in a collaborative spirit. 

•  In 2025 we advocated for the rising Youth Services need, we supported emerging nonprofits with fiscal sponsorships, and we inspired over $140K in gifts for Essential Needs with our community partners Goosefoot and Island Thrift.  In November we launched the Whidbey Food Resilience Fund to meet the urgent needs of our community.
