Each corporate philanthropy investment, regardless of the size, grows the ripple of philanthropy created by our community. Thank you to Puget Sound Energy for your generous support of Whidbey Community Foundation and our Island.

For more than a century Puget Sound Energy (PSE) has prided itself in serving our communities. Keeping the lights on and gas flowing—safely and reliably—is at the center of everything they do. But the work PSE is doing in our community far exceeds our utility needs.
When the sixth graders from Island Christian Academy recently had questions about renewable energy, PSE staff members, Liz Purdy, Manager of Community Engagement & Rocio Castillo-Foell, Sr. Community Engagement Rep., hosted them for a field trip at the Greenbank Solar Farm where they got to take a closer look at some of our local renewable energy generation.
“We work hard at PSE to ensure we’re building meaningful partnerships based on shared values that address community needs. We have an opportunity to provide clean energy education in a way that makes it real for our customers and for the inquisitive next generation of energy customers who are talking about and learning about clean energy,” stated Liz Purdy, Manager of Community Engagement. “It is incredibly exciting to discuss the Clean Energy Transformation Act because in talking with these 6th graders it became immensely evident that they are thinking about energy in transformational ways.”

But energy education is just one way that PSE is working to build community, innovation, and shared belonging across the vibrant and diverse people they serve. In recognition of Pride in June, PSE contributed nearly $40,000 to support organizations across the state, including Whidbey Island, with shared values working to create a more inclusive and welcoming Washington for all. Supporting each other is simply part of who they are, how they serve our community.
“We know that every community is different, so we aim to understand what the specifics community needs are and how we, PSE, can create long term partnerships in the communities we serve. We are so proud to partner with Whidbey Community Foundation to invest in the thriving nonprofit community on the island and in the creative solutions each organization works toward every day. WCF is clearly an anchor and go-to resource for so many organizations to better connect the community w

Whidbey Community Foundation couldn’t do the work we do for Whidbey Island without the help of generous people and businesses like Puget Sound Energy!
