In their words:
Welcome to the 21st year of our Christmas Sculpture Project. This is the third year we have collaborated with Whidbey Community Foundation. Last season was our most successful to date and we thank WCF for all they do. We also want to thank the Rob Schouten Gallery for helping us with distribution this year.
What started out long ago as Christmas gifts for family and friends expanded into an annual fundraising effort in support of local social service organizations on Whidbey Island. The project has helped make a difference in the lives of many people — particularly children since our main focus has been providing for organizations that assist families during the holiday season.
How to order
If you would like to become a collector, or add to your growing collection, your donation will be made to Whidbey Community Foundation. Georgia and Randy will work with WCF to decide where to direct the proceeds based on their experience from past years.
Donors have the option to purchase this year’s Christmas Pewter, the 2019 Dashing Turtle (1.4″H x 3.6″W x 2.7″D).
Also available are the 2018 Sheepish Rabbit (2.5″ H x 2.75″ W x 1.5″ D), and the 2017 Settling Owl (2.75″ H x 3.4″ W x 3″ D).
The minimum donation for each sculpture is $200. The materials cost is $80 per sculpture, which means that $120 of your contribution for each sculpture is tax-deductible and will go to nonprofits.
You will receive an email confirmation which includes a statement for the IRS indicating what portion of your contribution is tax-deductible.
Pick up your Sculpture in Langley
Sculptures will be available beginning November 30 for pick-up at the Rob Schouten Gallery in Langley. Please call the gallery in advance during the first weekend to confirm availability: (360) 222-3070 or (800) 858-5063. Bring a hard copy or digital image of your order confirmation. You can also donate by check at the Gallery.
If you require shipping, please consider increasing your donation by $5 or more for each piece ordered to cover the cost of mailing. Instructions for shipping will be on the email confirmation of your donation. You may also contact Randy and Georgia to arrange for any special shipping or questions.
Our Traditonal Request and Closing
We remind you of the spirit of this project — it is an effort to raise money for a number of important organizations such as South Whidbey Good Cheer and The Holiday House, who provide so much help and support to our neighbors in need. For this project to be meaningful, your contribution must be in addition to what you would have donated otherwise. We are happy to have you as a collector, but we urge you to continue your usual generous support of Whidbey charitable and service organizations. Thanks for your support of this project. As your collection grows and adds to your Holiday traditions, it’s nice to know we have all helped make Christmas a lot merrier for a good many of our neighbors.
